Packed with intelligence
One of the most comprehensive model changes ever undertaken by Mercedes-Benz, the all-new B-Class represents a quantum leap for the compact class. From its striking styling to its exemplary performance, this is automotive design and engineering at its innovative best.
At its heart lies a raft of intelligent “big-car” technology including Attention Assist and, standard for the first time on a car in this class, Collision Prevention Assist. In fact, the B-Class now offers the possibility of up to ten advanced assistance systems.
Class-leading aerodynamics of just 0.26 Cd are another string to the B-Class bow, coupled with super efficient engines and transmissions. As a result, CO2 emissions are up to 26 percent lower than its predecessor.
In addition, the latest B-Class offers exceptional comfort, its spacious and versatile cabin featuring the sort of high-quality finishes you’d expect to find only in our larger luxury vehicles.
Leading by example
Efficiency was a hallmark of the original B-Class and this latest version takes it to another level. All models are fitted with energy-saving measures such as ECO start/stop as standard and meet the EURO 5 standard for exhaust emissions. The latest direct injection and turbo charging technology further reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while maximising your driving enjoyment.
The result of all this technology? The two petrol and two diesel engines available on the new B-Class return some of the most impressive figures in the compact segment.
The B 180 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, for example, achieves up to 64.2 mpg combined when fitted with manual transmission. As for CO2 emissions, the new B-Class undercuts its predecessor by up to 26 percent.
Performance styling
This latest B-Class isn’t just longer, lower and wider than the previous model – it’s a completely different animal.
Showcasing a new Mercedes-Benz design language, the compact sports tourer’s many eye-catching features include distinctive character lines carved into the flanks, pronounced wheel arches and a gently falling roof line. Signature details such as the new-shape headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a choice of alloy wheels further enhance the car’s agile, purposeful looks.
But the low stance and sweeping, dramatic forms of the new B-Class aren’t just for show. They’re integral to the car’s class leading drag coefficient of just 0.26 Cd.
More agile, more responsive
With a centre of gravity some 30 mm lower than its predecessor and an all-new four-link rear axle, the latest B-Class offers impressive agility and assured handling as standard. And for an even more planted and responsive ride, the Sport model has lowered sports suspension featuring the Adaptive Damping System (ADS).
ADS independently adjusts shock absorber forces on each wheel to suit the current load, the condition of the road surface and your driving style. The result is one of the most connected and rewarding drives imaginable.
To complement the superb ride quality of the new B-Class, the interior is equipped with the seat comfort package as standard, featuring mechanical 6-way adjustment with lumbar support.
A car that looks out for you
The new B-Class is the first car in its class to come with Collision Prevention Assist and Attention Assist as standard.
Collision Prevention Assist is a radar-assisted warning system that recognises when you get too close to the vehicle in front and alerts you via visual and acoustic warnings. This can buy you valuable reaction time, helping reduce the likelihood and severity of nose to tail collisions.
Meanwhile, Attention Assist detects typical signs of driver fatigue and warns you to take a break. With both these systems on board, it’s like having a co-driver looking out for you at all times.
The B-Class is also fitted with an array of airbags, including a driver’s knee bag, and a tyre pressure loss warning system. Extensive options range from Pre-Safe®, our anticipatory safety system, to Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Speed Limit Assist.
